When should you see an orthodontist? The short answer is if you are concerned in any way about your teeth or your bite then the right time is now. You don’t need to get a referral, either.
Orthodontic problems can be difficult to detect and may be missed by dentists and other dental professionals. This is why it is best to see an orthodontist early to ensure that any developing problems are recognised and, if necessary, treated or kept under review.
The best time to be seen for your child’s first appointment, as recommended by various Orthodontic Societies, is between 7 to 8 years of age.
Making an appointment is easy and, as we have said, you do not require a referral from a dentist. You can make an appointment at either of our locations by calling 1800 SMILES.
For teenagers and adults, you should see an orthodontist if you are concerned or unhappy about your teeth and the way they bite together. If you answer ‘yes’ to any of these following questions, then you should make an appointment to see us.
