Dr Simon Freezer
Providing first-hand specialist care, advice, and treatment Dr Simon Freezer oversees every step of his patients’ treatments—driven by an unwavering commitment to achieve the best results for everyone he sees.
Dr Freezer believes that all his patients are entitled to not only the best results but that the journey to get there should be as easy and straightforward as possible. He has a 30-year legacy of thousands of patients that have benefited from having their treatment at Freezer Orthodontics.
Growing up in Tasmania Dr Freezer graduated as a dentist from the University of Adelaide in 1981. After two years of dental practice in Hobart, he returned to Adelaide to complete the specialist orthodontics program. Since then he has settled in Adelaide and operated his own specialist practice—primarily in the southern suburbs—for over three decades.
Currently he teaches the next generation of orthodontic specialists, having been a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Orthodontics and a research supervisor at the University of Adelaide for many years.
In addition to his specialist practice and lecturing, Dr Freezer is a leader in orthodontic innovation and research. He has been frequently published in orthodontic textbooks and international journals and has lectured extensively in Australia and around the world. He was awarded the most prestigious research award of the Australian Society of Orthodontics (ASO), the PR Begg Research Award in 1988. His recent research has focussed on how to accurately predict how patients will look after treatment.
Dr Freezer has been an active member of several state and national orthodontic associations throughout his career—including president of both the Australian Society of Orthodontists (SA) and the Australasian Begg Society of Orthodontists, the latter of which he was awarded an Honorary Life Membership. He is an invited fellow of the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy in recognition of his contributions to the field of orthodontics.
Simon is married with two children. His interests include being with his family, making guitars and trying to play golf.
